School Celebrates Bus Wrap Contest Winner

Click here to check out the Good Day Sacramento interview with Nevaeh.

January 26th was a normal Friday at Valley View Charter Montessori, until the big blue bus drove in and interrupted sixth period. On both sides of the bus was Nevaeh Smith’s winning “Design a Bus Wrap Contest” artwork. Her parents and her school had managed to keep her winning effort a secret until this moment. With her fellow students, teachers and family in attendance, Nevaeh couldn’t believe it. And after some slight encouragement and chants of “Nevaeh! Nevaeh!,” she posed for pictures and talked softly about how she created her winning entry.

Nevaeh is 13 years old and is an 8th grade student at Valley View Charter Montessori School in El Dorado Hills. Her winning artwork will be on an El Dorado Transit bus for 1 year.

“This is a project that we’ve been working on for a long time,” said Brian James, Executive Director of El Dorado Transit. “We thought this would be a fun project where we could work with the El Dorado County Office of Education and local students.”

The Design a Bus Wrap Contest was open to junior high school and high school students in El Dorado County.

“We are excited to have Nevaeh’s winning artwork on one of our local buses,” said Erik Bergren, Planning and Marketing Manager for El Dorado Transit. “Our buses typically travel 45,000 miles annually while transporting local riders, so Nevaeh’s design will be seen all over El Dorado County.”

Special thanks to local business Spot-On Signs and Graphics for their help and support with this project.
